Men Are At Risk of Eating Disorders?

Many people think that only girls get eating disorders, but studies have shown that men too are at risk of eating disorders. Although only 1 million men are known to have an eating disorder, compared to the 7 million women with eating disorders, the amount of men being diagnosed with eating disorders are increasing. Women are also said to "have it easier" than men beacause women with eating disorders recieve more social acceptance than men do. People associate these men with homosexuals and bisexuals, making it more diffucult for them to seek help. Some males develop their eating disorders as a result of a phsychological disorder but some are developed because of their unhealthy eating habits that they begin when participating in competitive sports.

  1. I don't think its right that female eating disorders are seen as socially acceptable while male eating disorders are not.
